【摘要】:IITInstrumentsareusedtoquantitativelymeasurevariousmechanicalpropertiesofthincoatingsandothervolumesofmaterialwhenothertraditionalmethodsofdeterminingmaterialpropertiescannotbeusedduetothesizeorconditionofthesample.Thispracticewillestablishthebasicrequirementsforthoseinstruments.ItisintendedthatIITbasedtestmethodswillbeabletorefertothispracticeforthebasicrequirementsforforceanddisplacementaccuracy,reproducibility,verification,reporting,etc.,thatarenecessaryforobtainingmeaningfultestresults.IITisnotrestrictedtospecifictestforces,displacementranges,orindentertypes.Thispracticecoverstherequirementsforawiderangeofnano,micro,andmacro(seeISO14577-1)indentationtestingapplications.ThevariousIITinstrumentsarerequiredtoadheretotherequirementsofthepracticewithinthetheirspecificdesignranges.1.1ThispracticedefinesthebasicstepsofInstrumentedIndentationTesting(IIT)andestablishestherequirements,accuracies,andcapabilitiesneededbyaninstrumenttosuccessfullyperformthetestandproducethedatathatcanbeusedforthedeterminationofindentationhardnessandothermaterialcharacteristics.IITisamechanicaltestthatmeasurestheresponseofamaterialtotheimposedstressandstrainofashapedindenterbyforcingtheindenterintoamaterialandmonitoringtheforceon,anddisplacementof,theindenterasafunctionoftimeduringthefullloading-unloadingtestcycle.1.2TheoperationalfeaturesofanIITinstrument,aswellasrequirementsforInstrumentVerificationAnnexA1),StandardizedReferenceBlocks(AnnexA2)andIndenterRequirements(AnnexA3)aredefined.ThispracticeisnotintendedtobeacompletepurchasespecificationforanIITinstrument.1.3Withtheexceptionofthenon-mandatoryAppendixX4,thispracticedoesnotdefinetheanalysisnecessarytodeterminematerialproperties.Thatanalysisisleftforothertestmethods.AppendixX4includessomebasicanalysistechniquestoallowfortheindirectperformanceverificationofanIITinstrumentbyusingtestblocks.1.4Zeropointdetermination,instrumentcompliancedeterminationandtheindirectdeterminationofanindentersareafunctionareimportantpartsoftheIITprocess.Thepracticedefinestherequirementsfortheseitemsandincludesnon-mandatoryappendixestohelptheuserdefinethem.1.5Theuseofdeliberatelateraldisplacementsisnotincludedinthispractice(thatis,scratchtesting).1.6ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Nootherunitsofmeasurementareincludedinthisstandard.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
